Emotional Freedom Technique
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is an Energy Psychology and is also known as Meridian Therapy. It was developed by Gary Craig and is based on the use of the same meridians of energy flow in the body that are used in Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) and acupuncture. The theory behind EFT is that if a blockage exists in the energy flow in the body, the result is a negative emotion that can lead to physical symptoms. “Tapping” on these meridians assists in removing the energy blockages. EFT is also based on the premise that mind, body, and spirit are all connected and that a “dis-ease” in one area will have a connection to another.
EFT assumes if you have a negative emotion, unwanted habit or problem if you wish to change, it is caused by a disruption in the smooth and natural flow of energy through the meridians of your body. EFT says that when something happens which causes a negative emotion within you, it means there is an energy imbalance in your body. This is why one person will have a reaction to an event and another person won't. One has an energy imbalance and the other doesn't.
Although some event caused the energy disruption, rather than specifically searching out this event and addressing it directly, EFT simply addresses the energy disruption, and re-balances the energy so that the event itself is neutralized and the problem, habit or emotion just disappears. It is like Psychological Acupuncture because it uses the acupuncture meridians to deal with negative emotions. You focus on a 'problem' while tapping on particular points along these meridians and the problem eases until it disappears. It is really just this simple! EFT is also a very effective relaxation technique that quickly calms you and helps you think more clearly about any challenges that may arise during the day.
I have had huge success using this technique with my clients and with myself on many issues, such as childhood abuse, trauma, fears, anger, sadness, insecurity, worrying what other people think, irritability, high blood pressure, migraine headaches, panic attacks, stress, road rage, sleep disorders, phobias, memory problems, performance enhancement and many, many more.
EFT works best when one is able to break down an issue into its specific aspects and tap on each component individually and this is where my counselling and listening skills come into play. I can help you do the detective work to track down an issue to its core and help you get rid of it once and for all!
EFT can also be used in conjunction with Hypnosis and NLP, and can really help make these techniques more effective. I can do EFT with you on the phone or in person, and once you learn the technique, you can use EFT on yourself for continuing results. Many people find it very empowering to use EFT on their own for personal growth.
